David Meller

SIMS and Data Manager, Alsager

David is the SIMS and Data Manager at Alsager School in Cheshire and Chair and Founder of the Chimney House Alliance School Data Network, a supportive network for school data managers.
David has embedded effective use of data at Alsager by showing how it can be used as positive tool that supports teaching and student achievement. As a result, data is now used widely at Alsager and has helped push it into the top 20% of schools for progress according to RAISEOnline. This was also formally recognised in the 2015 Pupil Premium Awards.
David is regularly used as a consultant and is a primary school governor. He is also an associate member of Alsager's Senior Leadership Team.


Peter Kent

Headteacher, Lawrence Sheriff School

Peter Kent has been headteacher of Lawrence Sheriff School in Rugby since 1999. During his early years of headship he pursued a long-standing interest in researching school culture and gained his doctorate in 2005. During his 16 years as a headteacher Peter has also worked part-time for the National College for School Leadership. He became a National Leader of Education in 2008 and Lawrence Sheriff became a Teaching School in 2012.
Peter was first elected to ASCL Council in 2005 and served as Honorary Treasurer and then chair of professional committee before serving as President from 2014-2015.
Peter is married with three children, the youngest of whom still attends his own school. In a triumph of hope over experience, he continues to support Liverpool FC.


Matt Stevenson 

Assistant Headteacher, Henbury Secondary School

Matt Stevenson is Vice Principal at Hanham Woods Academy in east Bristol and began on the Future Leaders programme in 2013.  He has pioneered the use of data ‘scorecards’ to dramatically simplify the presentation and use of data in schools.


James Lissaman

Deput Headteacher, De Lisle College

James is Deputy Headteacher at De Lisle College. His main responsibility is Achievement and Data Analysis which he has led on for the last five years. Pastorally, he works with years 11, 12 and 13 with a large focus on academic performance. He is a PE teacher and this allows him to be involved with his biggest passion, sport, on a daily basis.


Ellie ​Piper

Data Manager, Ferndown Upper School

Ellie is the Data Manager at Ferndown Upper School, a 13-19 state school in Dorset. She also works as a Freelance Technical Support Advisor for 4Matrix. Before making the move to the education sector, Ellie worked as a database analyst and programmer for a large IT services company.



Peter Atherton

Data Manager, Minsthorpe Community College

Peter has been the Data Manager at Minsthorpe Community College, Wakefield since 2012 and has over fifteen years' experience in analysing education data. Peter is a keen believer in supporting education strategy through effective data management and sharing of good practice which he advocates through his blog at dataeducator.wordpress.com.


Stephen Abbott

Director, Orwell Education Consultants Ltd

Steve Abbott's experience includes 12 years as an HMI and 14 years in senior and middle leadership roles in schools. He currently works as an education consultant, supporting school leaders with general and mathematics-specific school improvement, including advice on data.
