The introduction of the Prevent duty following the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 means that training for all school and college staff is crucial.
The Prevent duty and the Ofsted inspection framework clearly assign the responsibility of extending safeguarding to include potential radicalisation. There is also a clear expectation that staff should possess the capability to identify and respond to concerns related to radicalisation and extremism.
This training will provide staff with the understanding of the potential signs and indicators and provide guidance to referral processes to support their pupils.
Aims and outcomes
- Understand who is at risk of radicalisation
- Understand whether there is a predicted profile
- Examine what recent data tells us
- Recognise what ‘radicalisation’ looks like
- Be aware what signs and indicators to look out for
- Understand when and how we should refer.
