Fiona Carnie
Fiona Carnie is an educationalist and writer with an interest in voice and participation. On behalf of the charity Human Scale Education, Fiona led a DCSF-funded project from 2003-6 on Setting up Parent Councils. This involved working with a number of schools (primary and secondary) in challenging circumstances to develop structures to involve parents. She wrote a Case Study Report based on this project which is published on the DfE website. Fiona contributed to the DCSF publication on Setting up a Parent Council and is currently working with a number of Local Authorities and schools to develop their parental involvement strategies.
Publications include Alternative Approaches to Education (Routledge Falmer, 2002), Pathways to Child friendly Schools: A Guide for Parents (Human Scale Education, 2004) and Harnessing Parent Power.
