We need to work differently now to meet the needs of pupils. For example, advances in medical science mean that more premature babies survive but they may carry with them a complex range of needs. Our teaching must adapt to this.
This unit enables teachers and teaching assistants/support staff to think more deeply about partnerships for learning to develop more effective ways of meeting the needs of today’s pupils.
Aims and outcomes
Participants will:
- build on the ideas of pupil passports from the previous session
- consider what kinds of support are the most effective in helping pupils to make progress
- discuss what this looks like in the classroom
- work in partnership with pupils and teachers:
- giving better feedback
- helping pupils develop greater independence through improving metacognition
- using pupil passports as a vehicle for supporting metacognition.
