Trainer notes

Slide 11 is a title slide.

Show slides 12 and 13

As a whole group, view Video
clip 1 – Marking, feedback and success criteria

Ask colleagues to use the framework in slide 13 to make notes to feed into discussion of the question on slide 12. Suggest they use two differently coloured sticky notes – one to note what teachers and assistants do, the other to note what pupils do.

Ask colleagues to prepare a statement, first
in twos and threes, and then as a whole group, about what makes marking, feedback and assessment effective for them and for their pupils. Show slides 14 and 15

Ask colleagues to look at Handout 2.1: Suggested policies for marking and feedback for guidance.

First,
as a group, agree how to list participants’ views – e.g. on a flipchart or interactive whiteboard – and how they will be written up and made available.

Use the framework on slide 15. Say you will work towards consensus but respect the range of seriously presented views.

Keep the notes to go back to in Unit 4.
