What next?

  • Note anything that needs to be followed up.
  • Consider ways of using materials in this training – e.g. policy guidance in Handout 2.1: Suggested policies for marking and feedback and lesson planning in Handout 2.2: Planning a unit or topic.
  • Colleagues will carry out their plans and, if possible, visit a lesson taught by their partner.
  • Find out how successful the colleague pairings are and change them where necessary.
  • Circulate the notes.
  • Prepare copies of responses to slides 15 and 20 to use in Unit 4.
  • Fill in the attendance register to update your own and participants' learning records.

What has changed?

To find out about what difference the training is making, you could:

  • ask colleagues for feedback on the lesson plans they devised – Did the format make a difference? What was the effect on pupils?
  • look for opportunities to make connections between issues raised in the session and issues evident in ongoing performance management, whole-school improvement and other initiatives.
