This unit draws together key messages about safeguarding. You can refer to recommended good practice for education settings in briefings based on the last three triennial reviews of serious case reviews.
It is also an opportunity for participants in the training to reflect on what they have learned about safeguarding and identify areas for their own further learning.
Aims and outcomes
- Explain why learning from serious case reviews is relevant to staff and to your setting.
- Understand what can make some children more vulnerable to abuse.
- Know what is meant by ‘seeing beyond the behaviour’ of children whose behaviour is challenging for school staff.
- Explore ways in which school staff can help create and maintain a safe and trusting environment.
