Build resilience in your students and remain updated on current risks

“If we are to stem the increase in mental ill health problems in young people we need to find ways to make them feel safe,” Nihara Krause, founder and CEO of stem4.

According to The Good Childhood Report 2017, young people’s happiness is at its lowest since 2010, and research shows that the number of students entering universities with disclosed mental illness has risen almost fivefold in the past decade.

Supporting teenagers and making them feel safe is a challenging and multi-faceted responsibility for schools and colleges. With exam pressures, body insecurities, fear of crime and home difficulties, the struggle against anxiety, depression and low motivation is significant.

How can schools and colleges make sure that their safeguarding structures are robust, inclusive, and targeting the most pressing of issues for teenagers today?
