Simon Feasey, Headteacher, Bader Primary School

Simon Feasey is head teacher of Bader Primary School in the North East of England. A school where family engagement is central to all that is done, engendering a culture of learning for all, underpinned by attention to the building of relational trust across the whole of the school community. Simon believes that sharing power “with” rather than “over” others, building respectful alliances through home-school boundary spanning interactions creates a socially just, democratic school. Simon has a special interest in parental engagement, the subject of his doctoral thesis.


Alexandra Dean, Deputy Headteacher, Bingley Grammer School

I have been a Deputy Head Teacher at Bingley Grammar school since June 2009. Bingley Grammar is a large comprehensive school with 1800 students.  My current main responsibility is for teaching and learning which includes quality assurance processes and appraisal. I also have experience in heading up whole school behaviour and Post 16 provision.


Emma Beresford, Director, Parental Engagement Network (PEN)

Emma has extensive experience of developing  work with parents ; 10 years as a teacher and parent governor in primary and secondary schools, 15 years as a consultant and then strategy lead on work with parents at Manchester City Council and  5 years as Director of the Parental Engagement Network . She has written over  10 resources  to support parental engagement , been involved in several national research project s and worked on 3 national steering groups 


Janet Davies, Senior trainer, Parental Engagement Network (PEN)

Janet has over 30 years experience in developing parental engagement across all phases including as a manager of three nurseries , as a primary teacher and as a senior leader in a secondary school . She has managed   work across clusters of schools as part of the EiC initiative and has most  recently  worked  for PEN developing the Moving Up project  with 3 clusters of secondary schools in Derbyshire .


Janet Goodall, Lecturer in Education, University of Bath

Dr Janet Goodall is a lecturer in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Bath.  She has been involved in research around parental engagement in children's learning for the past decade, and has written widely on the subject, working with a variety of schools and organisations

 


Richard Burrows, Assistant Principal, Healing School A Science Academy

Assistant Principal at an Outstanding School in charge of Teaching and Learning and CPD, Richard believes that the teaching and support staff are the schools’ best asset and is passionate that every pupil receives the best possible education in a stimulating, safe and intellectually challenging environment.


Racheal Baker, Family Link Coordinator and Safeguarding Officer, RSA Academy

Racheal Baker is a Family Link Coordinator and Safeguarding Officer at the RSA Academy in the West Midlands.  The school is in an underprivileged and high risk CSE area where Parental Engagement has always been difficult.  Racheal comes from a challenging home and school background which has given her the insight to work with Hard to Reach families, ensuring the best outcomes for families in the school.  Racheal believes that building relationships between families and other agencies holds the key to success.
