Hosted by the esteemed Dr Pooky Knightsmith in partnership with Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, this half-day practical training session is designed to help you build resilience and support emotional wellbeing amongst your pupils.

Why is this conference relevant?

By the age of 14 strong evidence suggests that 50% of lifetime mental illnesses have already started*.

Early identification and support are crucial but children and young people’s mental health services remain inconsistent and overstretched.

In light of this, we at Optimus Education are delighted to bring you our 2016 Mental Health Roadshow. In partnership with The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, this practical training session will show you how to build resilience and support emotional wellbeing amongst students.

*As reported in The Guardian – April 2015

Learning outcomes - what can I expect?

  • Resilience: Take away easy-to-implement methods to support students in building resilience and avoid developing unhealthy coping mechanisms
  • Self-harm: Gain immediate strategies to respond to cases of self-harm and provide informed and appropriate support on an individual level
  • Teaching about mental health: Know how to safely and sensitively talk to students about mental health and build this into your PSHE curriculum

Plus, gain additional resources from our In-House Training service to help lead training back at school and cascade what you’ve learnt on the day.
